Please join us for the next EASO COMs webinar titled “Understanding Lipoedema: Patient Perspective, Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment” on Thursday 27th April 2023 (11am-12pm CEST).
In this 1-hour webinar, three expert speakers will explore different aspects of lipoedema, a chronic condition that can cause the disproportionate and painful accumulation of adipose tissue in the legs (and sometimes arms) of people affected. Attendees will gain important insights into living with lipoedema from the patient perspective. Clinical talks will be delivered by two founding members of the International Lipoedema Association (ILA), focussing on the definition of lipoedema, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options. There will be time to ask the speakers questions to increase understanding of lipoedema and support clinical learning for better practice in obesity management.
Prof. Luca Busetto (MD), Co-Chair of the EASO Obesity Management Task Force, will be the webinar chair. Expert speakers will present in the following order:

11:15 – 11:30 What is lipoedema and what are the diagnostic criteria? – Anna Towers MD (Associate Professor in the Departments of Oncology and Family Medicine at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada; founding member of the ILA and Coordinator of the ILA’s Diagnostic Criteria Working Group)
11:30 – 11:45 Surgical and non-surgical treatments for lipoedema – Francesco Greco MD (Director of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Unit of the Poliambulanza Foundation Hospital in Brescia, Italy and founding member of the ILA)
11:45 – 12:00 Questions & Answers with speakers and audience
