During the N8 AgriFood Policy Focus Week, the organisation has shared an open letter to social media brands including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Google and Microsoft requesting that these companies implement a company-wide policy to prohibit the collection of data from children under 18.
The objective of this request focuses on preventing vulnerable young people being targeted by junk food advertisers. The N8 Food Resilience Programme investigates the sustainability of global food systems, including consumer health; their research finds direct links between exposure to marketing of processed foods and beverages and increased consumption among children.
