Introducing Georgia Colleluori, PhD, Assistant Professor of Anatomy

Welcome Georgia Colleluori, PhD, Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy to the ECN Board

Georgia Colleluori, Assistant Professor of human anatomy at the Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, Italy, trained at Campus Biomedico of Rome, Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX USA) and Marche Polytechnic University. Her past work has been focused on adipocytes biology and on the effect of sex hormones and lifestyle therapy on adipose tissues in subjects with obesity and type 2 diabetes. Currently, she studies the crosstalk between hypothalamic nuclei regulating the energy balance and adipose tissues during early life, in conditions of obesity and metabolic diseases. Her scientific production resulted in around 40 publications, the award of 2 international fellowships grants, 8 abstract competitions and of the Anna Kuliscioff Prize. She is member of the Young Committee of the Italian Society of Obesity and scientific consultant to the Center for the Treatment of Obesity and Binge Eating Disorder of Città della Pieve (Italy). As part of a national educational network on eating disorders she regularly organizes educational initiatives directed to healthcare providers and general population to increase the awareness on the biological basis of obesity to contrast the widespread weight stigma.

She is very excited to take part to the ECN Board and to help build a network of professionals across different backgrounds to address obesity from different perspectives.
