Associate Professor Lubomira Fabryova

Assoc. Prof. Lubomira Fabryova, MD, Ph.D., MPH is Head of the Department for Diabetology and Metabolic and Nutritional Diseases, lipid disorders and especially obesity, founding member and president of Slovak Obesitology Association and president of Obesitology Section of the Slovak Diabetes Society. In addition she is past president of the Slovak Atherosclerosis Association.

Educated at Comenius University in Bratislava, she is specialised in internal medicine and diabetology, metabolic and nutritional disorders. Her research interests comprise the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases, especially type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, diabesity, lipid disorders associated with obesity.

Dr. Lubomira Fabryova is an A/prof. of Public Health at St. Elisabeth University, lectures for Institute for Prevention and Intervention St. Elisabeth University of Health Care and Social Work in Bratislava, teaching at Dept. for diabetology, metabolic disorders and nutrition of Slovak Medical University in Bratislava and she was member of Ph.D Study Board in the field of Internal Medicine at Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava.

Dr. Fabryova is engaged in scientific research work in the Biomedical Research Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. She is closely cooperating with the establishment of the first Slovak center for obesity management.

In 2021 she coordinated at the request of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, the preparation and publication of recommendations (guidelines) for the management of obesity in adults, as well as recommendations for the surgical management of obesity in adults. In 2013 she was an editor of the first Slovak monograph dedicated to clinical obesity, and in 2019 she was the main editor of the monograph Diabetes and obesity: unseparated twins.
