EASO News Bulletin – July 2023

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the EASO team, I want to express our gratitude and thanks for your participation in and contributions to the 2023 European Congress on Obesity in Dublin. The ECO, attended by 2400 delegates from 70 countries, was a resounding success, and we owe this success to you.

Thank you to our faculty and speakers, our sponsors and supporters, our organising team, our early career network and our European patient community. Your expertise, experience and commitment to advancing the understanding of obesity and its complexities have left an indelible mark on the work we do. We are truly grateful to you for delivering an exceptional scientific program and engaging teaching workshops with a sense of warm camaraderie and shared purpose.

Our engaged delegates brought a wealth of knowledge and a shared passion for better understanding and addressing obesity. Your active participation and provocative discussions enriched the congress experience, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual learning.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our gracious Irish hosts, the Association for the Study of Obesity in Ireland (ASOI) and the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity (ICPO), whose work was instrumental in creating an unforgettable congress, showcasing the warm hospitality for which Ireland is renowned. The congress truly felt like a close-knit family, united by a common goal.

Looking ahead, preparations for the 2024 European Congress on Obesity in Venice are already underway. We look forward to welcoming you to this enchanting city, known for its rich history and vibrant culture. Our dedicated organising committee and Italian hosts are developing a top-notch programme to build on the successes of ECO2023.

It is my firm belief that we are stronger together, pooling our collective knowledge and resources. The success of the 2023 congress, with delegates from around the globe, across disciplines and stakeholder groups, serves as a testament to this spirit of unity. We will continue to work together to support people with obesity and make new strides in the field.

Sincerely,
Jason Halford
President, EASO
